Liberty Latin America and América Móvil announced the combination of their subsidiaries VTR and Claro in Chile to form a new “joint venture” in the Andean country, as reported in a statement Thursday.
In particular, the Chilean National Economic Prosecutor approved the announced agreement to combine the respective activities of the two companies in the country. The objective of the operation is to set up a joint venture with a 50% stake each.
The press release confirms that the operators have fulfilled all contractual obligations and have concluded the transaction.
Claro VTR will be led by the newly appointed CEO Alfredo Parot, who recently joined Claro Chile and previously spent 16 years at Entel Chile in a number of high-level business, operational and technology roles.
