Liberty Global bought a nearly five percent stake in Vodafone

Liberty Global, founded by American businessman John Malone, has said it is not considering a full takeover of Vodafone Group. He does not even intend to seek a seat on the company’s board of directors.

Liberty Global owns shares in dozens of companies from the telecommunications and media sectors. In 2019, it sold cable networks in the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary and Romania to Vodafone Group. Part of this transaction was the Czech cable company UPC.
