After Liam Payne’s autopsy, various drugs were found in his blood. Now his companion AJ Mclean, former singer of the Backstreet Boys, speaks out.
After Liam Payne’s death, initial toxicology tests revealed that the One Direction star had taken several different drugs before falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina, according to US media reports. A drug cocktail called “pink cocaine” was found during a partial autopsy, ABC News and the TMZ portal reported on Monday (local time).
This mix contained, among other things, methamphetamine, ketamine and MDMA, the reports said. According to the Argentine public prosecutor’s office, the toxicological tests have not yet been completed.
Payne, 31, fell from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires on Wednesday and died. Investigators said the Brit appeared to have “gone through a phase of drug abuse.” He was alone in his room at the moment of the accident.

Argentine prosecutors said one of their representatives met with Payne’s father in Buenos Aires. He informed Geoff Payne about the current status of the investigation and informed him that the toxicological tests had not yet been completed. His son’s body cannot be released beforehand.
At the meeting, Geoff Payne expressed a desire “to find out what happened,” the prosecutor’s statement continued. He also signaled his willingness to “testify about anything that could help the investigation.”
Referring to the US media reports, the prosecutor’s office said it “did not release any specific technical report outside the exclusive scope of the investigation and judicial process in this case.”

They also “collected numerous witness statements in order to reconstruct the last hours of the deceased and the sequence of events.”
According to US media reports, in addition to methamphetamine, ketamine and MDMA, crack and benzodiazepines were also found in Payne’s body. According to ABC News, an “improvised aluminum pipe” was also found in the room where the musician was staying in Buenos Aires – apparently for drug use.
A hotel employee is suspected of supplying the 31-year-old with drugs on the day of his death, the US television station reported, citing the police in Buenos Aires. He is currently being questioned by Argentine authorities but has not yet been arrested or charged.
