This is one of the city’s support measures for Saarbrücken’s tradespeople who have been particularly hard hit by the corona pandemic“, Says Ralf Kirch, managing director of City-Marketing GmbH.

City-Marketing has purchased new decorative and lighting elements with funds specially approved by the city council. In Bahnhofstrasse, 24 illuminated pairs of wings, about 4.50 meters wide, 150 light balls in the plane trees as well as light chains at the glass transitions and arcades are operated with energy-saving LED lamps and are state-of-the-art. The large Christmas tree on the St. Johann market will also be , like many other trees in the city, put up again – and this year given a new decoration and lighting. This year’s investment costs for the new decorative and lighting elements, which will also be used in the coming years, amount to around 75,000 euros. Additionally rented large star sculptures for the Bahnhofstrasse as well as a rented light installation in the area of the St. Johanner Markt complete the new Christmas decoration.

The Christmas lights of the Saarbrücken traffic association at St. Johanner Markt known from previous years will also be reinstalled and complement the new elements. The Europagalerie will also showcase its historic building for Christmas.

The construction work will begin in the coming days. The area from the Europagalerie to the St. Johanner Markt should be completely decorated by the end of November.

In addition, businesses in various quarters are planning to illuminate their streets for Christmas, for example Kaiserviertel, Fröschengasse, Mainzer Strasse and Eisenbahnstrasse.

Whether and which Christmas campaigns can also take place depends on the future infection process and the respective legal situation. The state capital will keep you informed.
