Prime Minister Jean Castex is in Toulouse on Monday to sign the financing plan for the LGV Sud-Ouest. He will travel to Tarn-et-Garonne and Aude during the day.

It is an essential signature for the LGV. Jean Castex is expected in Toulouse this Monday morning to sign the financing plan for the future high-speed line (GPSO). It comes a week after the adoption in the Council of Ministers last week of ordinances which record the creation of a local public institution responsible for ensuring the financing of the project.

The local authorities of Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine which participate in the financing, the majority of the departments and the two regions, will be present to initial the document.

The LGV will be financed 40% by local authorities, 40% by the State and 20% by Europe. Amount of the bill for local authorities in Occitania: 2.98 billion euros. Each tax household in Occitania located less than 1 hour’s drive from an LGV station will have to pay €5 to finance the new line under the special equipment tax. The new 222 km railway line between Toulouse and Bordeaux will be put into service in 2032.

New hospital, new interchange on the A62

After Toulouse, Jean Castex will continue his visit to Montauban at the Hospital Center to discuss with caregivers and present the new hospital project. The establishment of 400 to 500 beds should see the light of day in 2029/2030. Jean Castex must also announce the creation of a new interchange on the A62 at Lacourt Saint-Pierre to the west of Montauban. The initial trip of Jean Castex, on February 26, had been postponed. The Prime Minister will have lunch in the village of Lafrancaise, a town of 3,000 inhabitants which benefits from the “Small towns of tomorrow” programme.

Wind turbines in the Mediterranean

At the end of the day, Jean Castex will go to Port-la-Nouvelle in the Aude to present the port extension projects and the follow-up to the public debate intended to define the areas where the future floating wind turbines will be located. The Minister for Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili will join Jean Castex in Aude.
