LG has registered a trademark in Europe for the name ‘LG Rollable’. Tech site LetsGoDigital has discovered this. The tech giant already has rollable televisions, but this patent would have been specifically applied for a device in the smartphone category.
Lately there has been a lot of news about smartphones with folding displays, but a roll-up screen would give smartphones a lot more possibilities. According to LetsGoDitigital, such a device could be extended to tablet format on both the left and right side.
A brief description has been added when submitting the trademark. Not much could be concluded from this, except that the smartphone probably supports a stylus. LG is expected to present the first rollable smartphone around March 2021. Such a device would also be in the pipeline at competitor Samsung.
