Recently installed an LG TV without internet connection. Shield TV glued to the back of the TV,
That’s where I see the future. It is of course ridiculous that, for example, Uitzendinggemist supports smart televisions for a few years and then recommends that you buy a Chromecast. You either support a platform throughout its economic life, or you don’t support it. If you buy a car, you are also not satisfied that it contains a windshield wiper fluid for 3 years and you then have to install an external washer system. In other words, the support of (for example) Uitzendinggemist.nl for Smart TVs must be assumed to be non-existent. Then the only solution to be able to use it is an external one computer (setup-box, CI+ module, Chromecast, Shield etc.).
I hope that in a few years televisions will have a standardized slot in which you can insert a small box: big enough for sufficient cooling, internal connectors for HDMI and power supply and no further hassle with loose boxes, cables, etc. A kind of CI ++. Fine if that box is initially supplied with WebOS, but if the hardware becomes obsolete, I only want to replace that box and not the entire television.
