LG Introduces Sustainable and Compact Smart Cottage at IFA 2023

In this context, LG Electronics (LG) I bet you sustainable, compact and prefabricated houses. Thus, the Korean giant will present its housing solution, LG Smart Cottage, in IFA 2023 from September 1 to 5.

It is a Smart Cottage is a compact, prefabricated home that incorporates LG’s state-of-the-art heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and energy solutions, as well as its new appliances and smart home services.

How is the compact and prefabricated house

Sustainable design and aligned with LG’s vision, the Smart Cottage features a two-story, studio-style design that provides a functional and convenient living environment and maximum space efficiency. The modular house, has a small footprint but comes with all the appliances and facilities one could need, it can be easily transported and placed in the desired location.

Inside, the space gives a “relaxed feel” and sophisticated thanks to LG’s “smooth, stable and refined” design and harmonious use of various materials such as hardwood, tile and brass. To reduce the environmental impact, the components of the replaceable module of the house have been manufactured with low carbon steel materials produced by POSCO, South Korean steel company.

The Smart Cottage features a two-story, studio-style layout, providing a functional and convenient living environment.

Innovative high-efficiency LG kitchen, living and air solutions installed in the LG Smart Cottage include the WashTower Compact, QuadWash™ dishwasher, various built-in kitchen appliances, a water purifier and Therma V air-to-water heat pump ™ Monoblock (AWHP). In addition to offering year-round indoor comfort while using less energy than a heating system and conventional refrigerationLG’s energy-saving AWHP can provide a reliable supply of hot water through connection to the 200-litre capacity Integrated Water Tank (IWT).

The exterior of the Smart Cottage is outfitted with sustainability-focused LG technologies that can meet the daily energy needs of up to two occupants. Roof-mounted 4 kilowatt (kW) solar panels connect to the company’s Energy Storage System (ESS) to ensure the safe collection and storage of solar energy, generating up to 15 kilowatts of electricity per day. Any surplus energy can be stored in the ESS for later use or sold to the contracted electricity service. In addition, LG’s modular home has a built-in electric vehicle (EV) charger, so owners won’t have to worry about installing one themselves to power their EV.

More comfortable user experience

For an experience of easier and more convenient user, all the appliances inside this extraordinary house connect seamlessly with LG ThinQ. Through the ThinQ app, users can effortlessly control each appliance, manage the entire HVAC system, and monitor energy storage and consumption in real time. In addition, LG ThinQ connects to Internet of Things (IoT) accessories that enhance the security of the Smart Cottage, including cameras, motion sensors and smart doorbells, helping to keep occupants safe, giving them peace of mind.

To help bring the Smart Cottage to life, LG partnered with GS Engineering & Construction Corp (GS E & C), a South Korean civil engineering and construction services provider.

“Much more than a prefab, LG Smart Cottage is an innovative housing solution that facilitates a sustainable lifestyle through next-generation ThinQ connectivity,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, President of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company.

And he added: “LG aims to redefine residential living by seamlessly integrating its energy solutions, appliances and services into a space that allows people to live life their way.”

Before the consultation of Sustainable Economy about whether they are thinking of bringing this product to the country, from the brand they affirmed that “It does not have dates to introduce them into the Argentine or Latin American market.”
