JAKARTA – LG Electronics (LG) improves the quality of LG Channels as a service streaming his free content. The facilities available on LG Smart TV devices have undergone an update to the interface design, increased broadcast channel options from 1,600 to 1,900 to expand the variety of entertainment content.
This upgrade to LG Channels will be gradual, in the meantime, the new update will be available to supported LG Smart TV users platform webOS 5.0 and later. However, LG stated that its presence will soon be available for LG smart TVs with the WebOS 3.0 and WebOS 4.5 operating systems.
“The update on LG Channels was made due to its increasing popularity. Referring to the company’s internal data, the number of viewers and duration of use of LG Channels has doubled compared to last year,” said LG’s press release Wednesday (11/8).
This update also further expands the reach of LG Channels, which is now available in 25 countries from the original 14 countries. Furthermore, LG Channels will also be present in more than 30 brands smart TV supported by LG’s webOS TV platforms, including Motorola, JVC, Polaroid, and Master-G.

Regarding the improvement in the interface, the latest design of LG Channels is designed to make it easier for users to navigate between menus in it. In addition, LG has also improved the content recommendation feature on LG Channels, to make this free premium content service able to analyze viewing preferences and provide viewing program suggestions.
While on the other hand, one of the company’s steps to enrich LG Channels content is done through collaboration with various parties, one of which is New Id, which is known as a digital media platform organization in South Korea. This partnership brings more fresh and interesting content to the LG Channels Library list.
On the other hand, LG also ensures that the company will continue to expand its collaboration with leading content providers, both on a local and global scale. Among them are Rakuten Viki, OnDemandChina, Baby Shark TV and Kids Pang TV.
“Especially for Rakuten TV, now it can be enjoyed for LG smart TV users located in selected countries in Europe. In this country, the Rakuten TV application can be accessed quickly and easily via hot key especially on the latest LG Magic Remote,” continued LG.
