LG Display, 6855 billion in operating profit in the fourth quarter of last year… 2nd consecutive quarter surplus

-LG Display recorded an operating loss of 29.1 billion won last year. In the fourth quarter (October-December), the operating profit was 6855 billion won and the deficit was significantly reduced. LG Display announced on the 27th that it recorded sales of 7,461.2 billion won and operating profit of 6855 billion won in the fourth quarter of last year. Compared to the third quarter of last year (July and September), sales increased by 11% and operating profit by 318%. Sales peaked in the fourth quarter of 2016, and operating profit was the highest since the second quarter of 2017. In 2020, the annual sales amounted to 24.23 trillion won and the operating loss was 29.1 billion won.

With the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), non-face-to-face culture such as working from home and distance education became mainstream, LG Display analyzed that the demand for TV and information technology (IT) products increased. In addition, due to the increase in shipments of large organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) and plastic organic light-emitting diodes (POLEDs), the shipment area increased by 5% and the selling price per area by 12% compared to the previous quarter, increasing sales. As the Guangzhou OLED plant began operating in earnest in July of last year, OLED TV panel sales increased.
