Jakarta, Selular.ID – LG announced a number of company improvements to LG Channels as its free premium content streaming service. As a facility installed on LG Smart TV devices, these updates include updating the interface design, increasing broadcast channel options from 1,600 to 1,900 as well as expanding the variety of entertainment content.
Regarding this update, LG stated, the upgrade to LG Channels will be gradual. In the meantime, the new update will be available to LG Smart TV users who have support for the webOS 5.0 platform and later versions. However, LG stated that its presence will be coming soon for LG smart TVs with webOS 3.0 and 4.5 operating systems.
Updates on LG Channels were made due to its increasing popularity. Referring to the company’s internal data, the number of viewers and duration of use of LG Channels has doubled compared to last year. In addition, the update is related to LG’s efforts to further expand the reach of LG Channels which are now available in 25 countries from the initial 14 countries.
Furthermore, LG Channels is said to be present on more than 30 smart TV brands supported by LG’s webOS TV platform, including Motorola, JVC, Polaroid, and Master-G.
Regarding the improvement in the interface, the latest design of LG Channels is designed to make it easier for users to navigate between menus in it. In addition, LG has also improved the content recommendation feature on LG Channels. This allows this free premium content service to analyze viewing preferences and provide suggestions for viewing programs from its Library that are considered more relevant to users. Going forward, LG will also soon introduce a special LG Channels application for smartphone devices. The app will debut in North America before the end of 2021.
On the other hand, one of the company’s steps to enrich LG Channels content is through a partnership with NEW ID, which is known as a digital media platform organization in South Korea. This partnership brings more fresh and interesting content to the LG Channels Library list.
Another effort is made by expanding the availability of TV broadcast channel choices to more countries. One of the things he has done is through the availability of the premium Korean movie channel, New K.Movies on LG Channels for the first time in Europe. Its availability will continue in North America and Mexico as countries whose people are considered to have a high enough interest in Korean entertainment.
On the other hand, LG also ensures that the company will continue to expand its collaboration with leading content providers, both on a local and global scale. Among them are Rakuten Viki, OnDemandChina, BABY SHARK TV and Kids Pang TV. Especially for Rakuten TV, now it can be enjoyed for LG smart TV users who are in selected countries in Europe.
