LG brings OLED to the gaming screen in 27-inch format

In more expensive TVs and phones, OLED screens have become an appreciated standard, with many desirable features even in desktop screens. With an infinite contrast ratio, good colors and fast response times, OLED is suitable for gaming monitors for example, but this was previously only made for giant desktop monitors and a few laptops.

Now LG is changing that and unveiling the Ultragear 27GR95QE-B gaming monitor, where the 26.5 inch OLED screen makes the product stand out from the crowd. The maximum refresh rate is 240 Hz and with the resolution of 2,560 × 1,440 pixels, this can also be achieved with modern graphics cards. In addition, LG specifies a response time of 0.03 milliseconds (gray-to-gray) and a color space of approximately 98.5% of DCI-P3. The panel is covered by an opaque reflective filter.

The screen comes with an external power supply and a stand with typical gameattributes, such as clear angles, RGB lighting, and a V-shaped foot. The stand can be raised up to 110 millimeters, tilted -5–15 degrees, and rotated -10–10 degrees. For those who prefer vertical image viewing, this is also possible. Judging by the images, there is VESA mount, but the specs are incomplete at the time of writing. Accordingly, details such as power, minimum contrast ratio and maximum brightness are also unknown.

However, the Ultragear 27GR95QE-B is known to have a dual HDMI connection and a Displayport connection. Image connections are joined by an integrated USB hub where one USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) Type B connects to your computer, while two USB Type A are available at the back of the display. An SPDIF output is also available, while the built-in speakers are notable for their absence.

It remains to be seen when the screen will find its way onto store shelves, but it will likely happen early next year. The price indicated on LG site is 1,000 USD, which translates to approximately 13,000 SEK including VAT.
