LFH J05: Dijon-Besançon: victory for the JDA (34-21)

Butagaz Energy League, 5th matchday of the 2022/2023 season: Dijon beat rivals Besançon. Final score: 34-21

An almost full Palais des Sports, an overloaded atmosphere, heated fans, a fast Dijon team on all fronts … all the ingredients together for a monstrous result: Dijon’s victory against rivals Besançon, 34-21.

What intensity! The Dijonnaise have left no respite in Besançon! By imposing their own law from the start of the game, JDA Dijon Handball were able to afford 17 goals, in the first period alone. The bisontini released too many balls and scored only 6 times. Stine Lonborg, Manon Gravelle and Ilona Di Rocco in excellent form all scored 11 goals! Elise Delorme and Claire Vautier also responded, very often disturbed by the defense of Besançon. Another performance to remember: goalkeeper Kristy Zimmerman, a real wall.

During the second period, a (very) small less rhythmic notch, the JDA steamroller has not stopped its course. The time outs requested by Besançon were not enough: Élise Delorme and Ilona di Rocco took the opportunity to pull out their claws, supported by Céline Sivertsen and Claire Vautier. Besançon woke up a little too late and tried to catch up, but goalkeepers Kristy Zimmerman and Manuella Dos-Reis barely let anything pass.

60 minutes of intense and fast play: Dijon’s signature since the start of the season. Final score: 34-21.

Christophe Mazel, the coach: “There is not much to throw away from this match, be it for the game, the atmosphere or the crowd… it was a great party! It was our best game since the beginning of the season, moreover in front of a team from Besançon 4th in the league and which kept us in check twice last year. The bisontini did not find an offensive solution e we took the opportunity to fuel our score by setting our game fast… Not to mention the goalkeepers who have been able to reward the collective quality of defense with their deeds. “

Stine Nørklit Lønborg: “It was a really good match, we mobilized from the start and it paid off. I was a bit nervous before the game started, but the motivation was greater because everyone was well prepared. It was a very important meeting and I don’t think we got lost! My family was in the audience so we will savor this victory together… and on Monday we will have to get back to training for the next match! “

The next meeting will take place in the Bouches-du-Rhône Friday 21 October against the Plan-de-Cuques team. Kick-off scheduled for 20:30

Next home game scheduled for Friday 2 December against the Saint-Amand handball team. Kick-off: 20:00, at the Palais des Sports Jean-Michel Geoffroy.
