Lexus is developing a manual transmission for electric vehicles, he writes EVO.
The company is testing the Lexus UX 300e electric crossover with a similar box. It features a third pedal that simulates a clutch and a balance wheel that is responsible for “shifting” gears.
This system has nothing to do with real mechanics. The shift knob and clutch have nothing to do with the electric box. A person can shift the gears and hit the clutch, but other than changing the virtual rpm scale on the dashboard, nothing in the car changes. [Evo]
