The Sultanate of Oman will host the work of the 34th Congress of the General Arab Insurance Union scheduled for 2024.
After more than 3 days of debates relating to the insurance and reinsurance market in Arab countries, the work of the 33rd edition of the congress of the Arab General Union of Insurance was closed with the election of Algeria as head of this union for a term of two years, thus succeeding Tunisia.
“Algeria is in a position to make a qualitative contribution to the Arab insurance sector by chairing the General Arab Insurance Union for the next two years,” said participants at the 33rd congress of the Union, stressing that “the Algeria is in a position to make a qualitative contribution to the Arab insurance sector and to work to further strengthen cooperation relations between Arab insurance companies”.
The new president of the Arab General Union of Insurance (Ugaa), the Algerian Youssef Benmicia, indicated that the presidency of Algeria of Ugaa, since last Monday, will contribute to completing the work of reform workshops of the Arab insurance industry opened at the level of this important professional organization. The new president of Ugaa also indicated that “the Union will focus on the field of training for insurance professions in Arab countries and the strengthening of cooperation between specialized training institutes in Arab countries, in addition to the increase in exchanges and the exchange of models and training techniques to raise the level of professionals and make them capable of responding to new challenges in this field”. The same official noted “the great experiences” enjoyed by Arab countries in the field of insurance, which he will endeavor to exchange between them and transfer successful experiences from one country to another, such as the experience of Algeria in the field of natural disasters or that of Egypt in the field of microinsurance. In addition, the participants in the Oran meeting were unanimous in electing the Sultanate of Oman to host the work of the 34th congress of the General Arab Insurance Union (Ugaa) scheduled for 2024.
The Jordanian insurance market will be the alternative for the organization of the next Ugaa congress in case the Sultanate of Oman withdraws.
The request of the Kingdom of Jordan to host the 35th edition in 2026 has been accepted, beforehand so that the Bahraini insurance market is the alternative to its organization in case Jordan cannot host it.
