Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that when he leaves F1 he will become a singer-songwriter. More or less an open secret.
“I have been composing music for a long time. People may be surprised, but I struggle with anxiety. It has never been my goal to publish my songs or be a pop-star. Since I was 12 or 13 years old I have liked to compose songs and I was left alone in my room playing that music and trying to put lyrics to it, “said Hamilton in an interview with Sky F1.
Lewis was sincere saying that at the time “I almost always thought they were stupid pieces, that they would not work … but I did not give up. I still do, because it is quite therapeutic. But later, when I make them listen to friends, they all tell me that I should show my musical talent. Surely in the future I will. ”
A little over a month ago, Lewis placed an ad looking for musicians and under the name Xnda he has collaborated on the song Pipe by Christina Aguilera. And soon after, a rumor circulated that his first album could be very close.
Hamilton argues that there is more to life besides F1 and auto racing, things that he has been able to experience at times “and some have captivated me, but there are also many others that I would do if I didn’t have to spend so much time on racing.”
The seven-time world champion has sometimes been criticized for what he lavishes on other activities, for a public life that was very hectic at the time, but Toto Wolff agrees with this, perhaps because he understands that the champion does not neglect their preparation and, on the contrary, they serve to dilute the pressure.
For Lewis, his career as a pilot is another facet of his streak as an artist. Possibly it would agree with the Italian phrase that defines the children of pilots who choose to follow the parental trade ‘figlio d’arte’.
“What we do is an art form. It is possible that many people do not see it that way, but in reality it is like that. The British driver explained that, for that reason, because of creativity, he made the decision at the time to leave McLaren and go to Mercedes “despite the fact that 90% of people advised me against it. Some see in these words a declaration of intentions: I beat Michael’s records and I am leaving. But that is not likely to happen, despite what other ex-drivers say. Lewis has said it, without confirming it, that it will continue in activity: “possibly this will not be my last year”.
