The legendary British pilot Lewis Hamilton has shown what he feels the future holds for him beyond Formula 1, as he prepares for the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix, after having to retire in the last race due to faults in the Mercedes car, again.

Hamilton, seven-time Formula 1 champion, is one of the most recognized sports figures in the world, along with other athletes such as Cristiano Ronaldo or Usain Bolt, but the driver recently signed by Ferrari has shown the other facets that he has more beyond motorsport.

In interview with GQ, the driver spoke about several topics such as what he expects from this season that is beginning and will be his last at Mercedes, as well as what he hopes for his future. “I am very excited about the present, because I know that the future is not guaranteed. With the famous magazine, Hamilton confessed that what led him to cultivate the other passions he has outside of F1 was because “I went through the phase of understanding that I can’t race forever.”

“The hard thing is that I want to do it all,” he says, laughing. “I am very ambitious, but I understand that you can’t, in fact, I retract it, because I don’t believe in ‘you can’t’. To master something, it takes 10,000 hours. Obviously, I already did it in motorsport. There is not enough time to master all my other interests.”

So what will replace racing? he was asked and Hamilton replied: “Well, I think it will be cinema and fashion.”

None of the answers are surprising since, in recent years, Hamilton has stood out for being one of the drivers on the grid who arrives at the paddock as if it were a catwalk or fashion event, while the others only opt for jeans and t-shirts of their respective teams.

Regarding cinema, Hamilton also talked about how he missed the opportunity to go out in Top Gun: Maverick, with Tom Cruise. “First of all, I had never taken an acting class, and I didn’t want to disappoint them. Secondly, I didn’t have time. I remember when I told Joe and Tom, my heart broke. Then, of course, I regretted it. When I saw the movie I thought, ‘That could have been me!’” she said, laughing.
