Lewandowski before winning the “Golden Shoe”

World footballer Robert Lewandowski from record champions Bayern Munich is about to win the “Golden Shoe” for the first time as the most accurate goalscorer in the European leagues. Last Saturday the Polish international scored his 40th goal of the season in the Bundesliga in a 2-2 draw in Freiburg, setting Gerd Müller’s all-time record from the 1971/72 season.

With 80 points Lewandowski easily ranks first, followed by the superstars Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona / 60 points) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus Turin / 58) in second and third. Andre Silva (54) from Frankfurt is fourth. Behind them are Kylian Mbappe (Paris St. Germain / 52) and Dortmund’s Erling Haaland (50) in fifth and sixth.
