The energy released by data processing would be recovered: it would heat greenhouses to produce food.
- This could produce 2,800 tonnes of berries and 80,000 tonnes of tomatoes annually, according to QScale forecasts.
The first phase of the project is financed by several actors:
- The Quebec government takes a $ 30 million stake in QScale’s share capital and lends it $ 60 million.
- Desjardins Capital is investing $ 60 million.
- Various Quebec private investors are investing a total of $ 45 million.
Hydro-Québec has entered into an agreement with QScale to supply 140 megawatts to power the treatment center.
