Levi’s® and New Balance Collaborate on 2023 Winter Co-Branded Shoe Collection

Levi’s® and New Balance have joined forces to launch a new 2023 winter co-branded shoe. The Millennium’s hot classic MT580 is paired with two unique new mountain colors to pay tribute to the cross-country cycling pioneers of Marin County in the United States. This latest series reinterprets Combining durable Levi’s® denim with the iconic New Balance MT580, each pair comes with Levi’s® red flags, three sets of interchangeable laces and a special edition box.

In the early 1970s, young men and women in the United States began riding old bicycles, also known as “klunkers”, originally used to deliver newspapers, on the fire roads in the mountains of Marin County, California, creating the birth of mountain biking. To conquer rugged terrains and steep rocks and slopes, Levi’s® jeans, which are durable, highly protective and yet fashionable, have become the uniform of cross-country cycling pioneers. In order to continue the long-term cooperation between Levi’s® and New Balance, the two parties use cross-country cycling pioneers as a source of inspiration to release a series of new joint shoes.

Paying homage to cyclocross culture and Marin County, this latest collection features durable Levi’s® fabric paired with the silhouette of the classic New Balance MT580. Originally launched in the early 2000s, the reissued MT580 features a RollBar mountaineering design that breathes life back into the iconic bulky silhouette. The modernized look, which narrows the toe and lowers the collar height, combines with careful craftsmanship to accurately recreate the materials, sole and features of the original. The MT580’s ABZORB midsole absorbs impact with cushioning and compression resistance, while its C-Cap midsole cushioning provides durable support and flexibility. For added support, it features a RollBar stabilization system to help control rearfoot movement. In order to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Levi’s® 501® jeans – the ancestor of all jeans – this joint edition of the MT580 shoes is specially made with Levi’s® exclusive Shrink-To-Fit™ denim fabric.

Inspired by traditional aesthetics and century cycling style, this joint series offers two different color schemes: “Gray Blue Edition” with an upper made of nubuck leather, with dyed Levi’s® denim on the toe and sides; “Beige Black Edition” Edition” is made of long-velvet suede uppers, with washed black Levi’s® denim on the toe and sides. The special packaging outer box design also tells the story of the birth of off-road bicycles, and each pair of shoes is equipped with classic Levi’s® red flag and comes with three sets of laces.
