Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Levincia Electric Type Gym Guide
When you’re ready to head further east into Paldea, it might finally be time to chart a course for the coastal port city of Levincia. If you already faced Brassius in the Artazon gym, you can follow the road out of Artazon to the east. It will turn north a bit, but follow this road towards the Eastern Province (Area Two) until you reach the bridge towards Levincia.
You’ll find the Electric-type Gym with Gym Leader Iono in Levincia, and the Electric Badge is waiting for you if you can secure a win the first time around. When you’re much further along the path to becoming a Pokémon master, a series of Gym Leader rematches will occur, giving you the chance to battle against a much stronger Iono team.
Levincia gym test
When you’re ready to start moving towards this battle, Iono will first assign you a fascinating little gymnastics test while searching for “Mr. Walkabout” in various photos. Inspired by “Where’s Wally?”, he will have to examine the image and point the cursor at his location three different times.
A step up from the gymnastics trials in Artazon and Cortondo though, Iono also has some fans ready to battle you during the gymnastics trial. These are the Pokémon you will face during the gymnastics event.
- Gymnastics coach Martí
- Gym Trainer Michael
- Tinamo (Level 22)
- Flaaffy (Nivel 22)
They are not the most difficult battles, but you will get some extra experience and can get a reward of 3,080 Pokédollars for each victory. Once you’ve defeated them and found Mr. Walkabout in the final photo, Iono will be ready to challenge you.
How to beat Iono for the electric badge
The introduction of Tera Types and Terastallization continues to show up throughout each progressively difficult gym battle, and Iono is definitely kicking things up a notch. These are the Pokémon you will face:
- Wattrel (Level 23)
- electric and flying type
- Skill: Wind Power
- Moves: Pry, Quick Attack, Spark
- Bellibolt (Level 23)
- electric type
- Ability: Electromorphosis
- Moves: Water Gun, Spark
- Luxio (Nivel 23)
- electric type
- Skill: Intimidate
- Moves: Spark, Bite
- Mismagius (Level 24)
- ghost type
- Tera Type: Electric
- Skill: Levitate
- Moves: Charged Lightning, Hex, Confused Lightning
Even more so than the slightly weaker leaders Brassius and Katy, Iono has a truly devastating Tera Type combo waiting for you at the climax of this battle. You should be able to use a Rock-type to take down Wattrel and a Ground-type could make quick work of Luxio and Bellibolt, but watch out for the latter’s water pistol.
The biggest challenge, though, will be Mismagius, who Iono Terrastalizes into an Electric-type while keeping Levitate to give him immunity to Ground-type attacks. In this case, there is no super-effective counter, so keep your levels higher in battle and hit Mismagius with your strongest Pokemon. If you want to be more defensive, bringing a Ground-type or Normal-type into battle will at least neutralize one of Mismagius’s offensive moves.
After your first win against Iono, it will award you with the Electric Badge and TM 48, which will teach one of your Pokémon the versatile Volt Switch. If this is your third Gym Badge, earning it will also grant you the ability to control all Pokemon below level 35.
How To Defeat Iono In Your Levincia Gym Leader Rematch
Your path to the Pokémon League will pass through every gym and city in Paldea, but it won’t be the last time you see those leaders. When the Academy Ace Tournament starts gathering later in the game, you’ll have a chance to seek out each of the eight Gym Leaders in Paldea for one more showdown.
Unlike the first time around, the Gym Leader Rematches are all on the same level and offer no difference or benefit when it comes to facing them in a specific order. However, it’s good to know that you’re really prepared for the upgrades that Iono has made for the second battle.
These are the Pokémon you’ll face in the Levincia Gym rematch against Iono:
- Kilowatt (Level 65)
- electric and flying type
- Skill: Wind Power
- Moves: Hurricane, Barrage, Quick Attack, Tailwind
- Bellibolt (Level 65)
- electric type
- Ability: Electromorphosis
- Movimientos: Water Pulse, Thunder, Reflect, Sucker Punch
- Electrode (Level 65)
- electric type
- Ability: Static
- Moves: Foul Play, Electric Ground, Shock, Sucker Punch
- Luxray (Level 65)
- electric type
- Skill: Intimidate
- Moves: Crunch, Wild Charge, Psychic Fangs, Ice Fang
- Mismagius (Level 66)
- ghost type
- Tera Type: Electric
- Skill: Levitate
- Moves: Charge Beam, Shadow Ball, Mystic Fire, Dazzling Brilliance
Just as was the case in their first battle, Iono is bringing a team focused on the Electric-type with the extra-powerful Mismagius combo to boot. You’ll need a Rock-type move, ideally Stone Edge, to take Kilowattrel down and open up. Any good Ground-type move should be able to handle most of the rest of the party, but watch out for Water Pulse and Ice Fang, which could cripple a Rock- or Ground-type Pokemon. Mismagius is even stronger than before with more offensive versatility thanks to Dazzling Gleam and Mystical Fire, so make sure you have a beefy special defender to handle it.
With the team details and strategies outlined in this Levincia Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Electric-type Gym Guide, you’ll be as prepared as possible when preparing to battle Iono. If Mismagius gives you trouble the first time around, that should give you an idea of just how devastating Iono can be once the levels are up for the rematch, but now you’re ready to take her on.
