Chomutov – Basketbalistky Levhartic Chomutov se ve třetím kole FIBA EuroCupu utkaly s týmem Movistar Estudiantes Madrid. I přes bojovný výkon a snahu holky nakonec prohrály v poměru 66:70. Trenér Pavel Stank po zápase uvedl, že byli od vítězství jen kousek a věří, že si z porážky vezmou to pozitivní a nakopne je to do dalších zápasů.
Levhartice, které předtím prohrály o jedenáct bodů s maďarským Szekszárddem a o deset bodů s italským Sassari, přišly ve druhé čtvrtině o nejvýznamnější hráčku sestavy, Američanku Yemiyah Morrisovou. Přesto se jim podařilo otočit osmibodové manko a bitva pokračovala až do konce. Chomutov měl patnáct vteřin na poslední útok, kdy ztrácel dva body, Valentýna Kadlecová pronikla pod koš, ale nedala.
“Plánovali jsme, že si půjdeme pro faul, bohužel se to nepodařilo,” litovala Kadlecová. “Ale jsem hrdá, že jsme byly až tak blízko vítězství. Doufám, že ve skupině ještě přijde.”
Kromě Morrisové nedohrála kvůli zranění kolena ani Jesika Hibalová. Nejlepší domácí střelkyní byla tradiční americká hvězda NaJai Pollardová s 16 body, sekundovala jí dvanáctibodová Anna Rylichová. U hostů se blýskla Marena Whittleová s 23 body.
“Pokud by nás měl každý zápas posunout, bylo by to strašně fajn,” řekl Stank. “A když se nám jeden podaří uhrát, můžeme se bavit, jestli existují šance na postup.”
Levhartice, loňské vítězky nižší evropské soutěže EWBL, završí domácí trojboj ve středu 1. listopadu střetnutím se Szekszárddem.
