Berita Ciamis, (harapanrakyat.com),- Condition of Leuwi Biuk located in Lebak Environment, Ciamis Subdistrict, District/Ciamis Kabupaten District, West Java, from year to year continues to experience siltation. This is due to the impact of plastic waste that continues to fill the Cileueur river.

Aji Rauf, a local resident when met by HR Online said that the condition of the river and Leuwi was very good. In fact, not a few residents use river water for bathing.

“Around the 70s, the condition of the river was very good, especially this Leuwi Biuk. Every day many people fish,” he said on Sunday (20/6/2021).

However, he continued, as development progressed, there was a change in conditions in the river. In fact, at this time the river and Leuwi are filled with garbage.

“We can see the changes now. After a lot of house construction around the riverbank, it automatically generates household waste. Whether intentionally or not, residents instead throw garbage into the river,” he said.

According to him, with the construction of many houses around the banks of the Cileueur river, especially from upstream to downstream, of course it produces a lot of waste.

“Hopefully with this incident, the government can make rules or prohibitions regarding littering in rivers. Because, as a result, it can damage the environmental ecosystem,” he hoped.

Because according to Aji, the existence of rivers is needed for humans. However, if there is pollution such as plastic waste, it is a bad sign. So that the river and Leuwi Biuk are damaged.

In fact, he continued, the Cileueur river, which stretches in the Ciamis area, has become a spring for irrigation, both rice fields and ponds owned by residents. So he asked local residents to keep the river clean.

“Stop throwing plastic waste into the river, to prevent environmental pollution, and also protect the river ecosystem. Thus, the springs and the beauty of the Cileueur and Leuwi Biuk rivers are maintained,” he concluded. (Es / R5 / HR-Online)
