TIENGEN BUILDING AREA
Objections dismissed with a certain arrogance
On the report “Knappes Ja frs Baugebiet” (BZ of February 18), which dealt with the fact that the local council of Tiengen voted with a narrow majority for the disclosure of the development plan for the new development area “Hinter den Grenten”.
Although, as a citizen of Tiengen, I am not directly affected by the planning of the new building area “Hinter den Grten” in Tiengen, I would not like to be satisfied with the preliminary decision at the most recent meeting of the Tiengen local council. Even during the original planning of the new building area, fundamental concerns were voiced, which logically were reflected in a citizens’ initiative.
These committed Tiengen citizens uncovered all the shortcomings that resulted from the original development plan – even now with the minor corrections that have been made.
Significant in this context and also unacceptable in this form is the reaction of Freiburg’s Lord Mayor Martin Horn and the building mayor Martin Haag when handing over the signatures of almost 1,500 Tiengen citizens on February 10 in the Freiburg town hall will adhere to the plans for the new development area “Hinter den Gräten”. Half of the Tiengen citizens ignored the objections with a certain arrogance. That’s not how it works.
And now back to the town council meeting on February 16th in the Tuniberghaus, where there was the possibility that the town council of Tiengen could have unanimously supported the citizens’ initiative. Unfortunately, the vote did not result in a majority for it.
The author of the article in the BZ also noted in his report: “Could there perhaps have been more critics on site?” He’s right about that, but it probably wouldn’t have changed the result of the vote. If the plans of the city of Freiburg are implemented in their current form, I am sure that in the near future there will be talk of “construction problems in Tiengen”. We should try to prevent that.
Norbert Walter, Freiburg-TiengenCould repetition be required?
Very unusual that the public town council meeting in Tiengen was held on a Wednesday, February 16th. The long-standing practice has always been Mondays or Tuesdays as the days for public council meetings. In particular, however, it is a fact that there was no timely, local announcement of this public council meeting in the bulletin of the city of Freiburg im Breisgau for the Tiengen district. This announcement was not made in newsletter number 6 (dated February 10, 2022). The question therefore arises: Is this “accident” a significant formal error? Also questionable would be: Would the formal error have an effect on the legal effectiveness of the resolutions passed in the meeting? If so, could a repetition of the public Council meeting with the same items on the agenda be necessary? It is certainly exciting to see whether the voting result would be different in a repeat meeting? The citizens (m/f/d) should certainly be interested in how the local board and the other members of the local council would position themselves on this problem.
