“Clarification absolutely necessary”
To the article “Old Catholic church services well attended” in the BZ from April 19th

One is a bit surprised when, after the service of the old Catholic parish in the castle park, it is announced more often on Sundays that ten percent of the collections have to be transferred to the city for the use of the park. In church parishes, as charitable institutions, collections are usually made for poor and needy people, for aid projects in Brazil, Asia or Africa, for measures to support refugees, for integration or for community-owned educational projects. In the district of Waldshut, there are apparently only taxes on such aid and support measures in the St. Fridolin town of Bad Sckingen. Here a social and church political clarification and enlightenment on the part of the mayor and the spa administration seems to be absolutely necessary. In the citizen’s inquiry recently in the municipal council, the mayor said benevolently that this decision had been discussed with the parish.

For the future, this probably means that the Protestant parish on Ascension Day, May 13th, and the parish parish on Corpus Christi day, June 3rd, also have to pay the ten percent tax to the city on possible collections for their concerns. As a charitable and social institution, the parishes in the city are not yet aware of the otherwise usual tariff of 400 euros for use in the palace gardens.

Under this massive “cost pressure” from the parishes through the city, the church events mentioned will probably no longer take place in the castle park in the usual form.

Hans-Peter Karrer, Bad Sckingen
