Letters from 1974. The Russian army “on paper” still lives in the USSR

Parents of Russian soldiers who died on the Ukrainian front receive summonses written on Soviet-era forms about the death of their sons.

The “Telegram” channel of the “Nexta” media reported on the Russian practice of confirming the news of a soldier’s death with a 1974 form. It also publishes a Soviet-era document received by the parents of the deceased Ukrainian suitor.

According to Russian human rights defender and journalist Marina Litvinovicha, the information leaflets received by the parents of Russian soldiers who died in Ukraine also contain a text about the pensions and benefits guaranteed by the laws of the USSR.

“It turns out that the army lives in the times of the USSR. The only question is – more or already?” concludes Litvinovica.

In Russia, the paper crisis worsened after the introduction of sanctions. It was previously announced that in some of its medical institutions, prescriptions are written on Soviet forms.
