Letter to the Editor: “Teachers create their own set of rules” – Letters to the Editor Breisgau

GENDER IN SCHOOLS

Regarding “Asterisk, Binnen-I or none of it” by Jacqueline Grundig, BZ from February 4th:

Thank you for your highly interesting article! But all I can say is: people, fight back and, above all, get back to normal! It is unacceptable that completely ideologized teachers are let loose on our students who, contrary to their actual teaching assignment, create an undefined space for a freely invented gender language and let it run unchallenged, although the current German spelling rules do not provide for this in any way. It is really not the task of the teacher to create new rules, but to explain and convey existing rules. There seems to be a misunderstanding.

So we can see that it is not the language that has changed, as people keep trying to make us believe, but apparently too many teachers who have created their own set of rules, which also varies from school to school. I really feel sorry for all the students who are also helplessly exposed to this complete madness.

Heinrich Hünerfeld, Freiburg
