The Mayor of Ioannina, Dimitris Papageorgiou, sent a letter to the political leadership of the Ministry of Rural Development regarding the great damage caused to crops in the area.
The recording of damages is ongoing by ELGA and its levels.
What needs to be done immediately and what the Mayor is asking for is the speeding up of compensation so that the people in the primary sector can take a breather.
As the Mayor points out, the weather conditions have caused great damage to the crops while they have also dealt a blow to the area’s livestock.
It is imperative that the compensation process be processed quickly because if it is delayed then the blow to the primary sector of the area will be irreparable.
