Raitininkai old town is the farthest from the municipal center of Alytus district, but there are no less planned and executed works here than elsewhere. During the meeting, the mayor of Alytus district discussed with the team not only the works and plans, but also the expectations and pain points of the residents.
“I am sincerely glad that there are so many people in Raitininkai district who care about the future of their country. I understand the anger and frustration of a part of the population due to previous decisions to close the post office, schools, and dispensary. I can’t answer for what happened, but I can and want to talk, discuss and find the best solutions together. I believe that through constructive dialogue we can find common points and solutions that would ensure safety, comfort and allow us to live a full life here”, said Mayor R. Vitkauskienė.
Meaningful free time and culture are priorities
Mayor Rasa Vitkauskienė assured that children could spend their leisure time safely and with quality, that the abandoned playground in the ward will be repaired this year. Another important message for the residents is that in the near future it is planned to restore the Makniūnai branch of the Culture Center, which would organize events, educations and other cultural activities.
“We are glad that your community is so active. If there is a greater need for cultural activities, employment, let’s talk, negotiate, offer. Every initiative is important and necessary. The life of the old town is also in the hands of the residents themselves”, Vice Mayor Aurim Truncė said at the meeting.
It is planned to manage the cemetery in the old town
There are 20 cemeteries in the Raitinkai district. This year, it is planned to clean up the surroundings of Bugonii, Druskininkai, Vabalii, Makniūnai and Meškasalis cemeteries. If it is possible to reach an agreement with the owners of the private plot, it is planned to fix the approach road to the Lizda cemetery. Already next year, the Bugonii cemetery is planned to be surrounded by a fence.
About 7 km of roads are planned to be asphalted in the seniūnia. The municipal council approved a new procedure, according to which individuals and legal entities can contribute to road maintenance. With a financial contribution of 30% from the residents, it is planned to asphalt about 900 m of the access road to the residential houses from the road Nemunaitis – Galintėnai.
In the next year, 7 km of paved roads
This year, it is planned to pave the 1.2 km section of the road Meškasalis – Vabaliai – Valėniškės, and in 2025 – 0.9 km, and in 2026 – another 1.1 km. In the next two years, repair work will be carried out on the Makniūnai–Vabaliai road: 1.5 km sections are planned to be asphalted in 2025, and 1 km sections in 2026. It is also planned to asphalt the Voveraičiai street in the village of Ryliškii this year.
These will be used to gravel the access road to the village of Vabalai, from the road Meškasalis – Vabaliai – Valėniškės, and on the access road to Ryliškii, from the road Kampai – Ryliškiai – Merkinė, a culvert will be repaired.
In Ryliškii, in the next two years, it is planned to fix up the multi-apartment site. In order to make the old town and public spaces cleaner and more orderly, the leaders of the Alytus district intend to strengthen the staff.
