The temporary administrator of vzw Let’s Go Urban (LGU), Annemie Moens, has officially filed for bankruptcy. The court will decide whether to approve the application.

From business court in Tongeren had extended Annemie Moens’ assignment as administrator of LGU by one month at the end of April. She was appointed at the outbreak of the fuss surrounding the non-profit organization of Sihame El Kaouakibi.
Moens was not only responsible for the day-to-day operations of LGU, but also had to clarify the possible financial malpractice at the non-profit organization and some companies. In her report, she was devastating to El Kaouakibi.
An audit of the city of Antwerp into the money flows of Let’s Go Urban also spoke of fraud. The city then stopped its collaboration with Let’s Go Urban.
Moens had to decide whether LGU still has a future. According to her, that is not the case. ‘The city of Antwerp has withdrawn its recognition for youth work and is no longer making operating resources available. Moreover, the concession for the building (the Urban Center, ed.) Has been withdrawn, as a result of which it must be evacuated and there is therefore no more work space for the non-profit organization. Finally, I expect the necessary claims for damages in connection with the presumably – I am not a judge – incorrect use of resources. ‘
The business court in Antwerp will consider the case on Thursday 27 May. Other board members may still be able to interfere in the procedure, says Moens.
