On the 5th, the 3rd Criminal Division of the Suwon High Court (Judge Um Sang-pil) sentenced the pastor A of the parent church in Gyeonggi Province, who was charged with assault fatality, to four years in prison as the lower court.

In addition, Mr. A’s wife B, another pastor C and his wife D, who were accused of helping Mr. A, such as grabbing the victim’s limbs, were sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and 2 years probation.

The judge said, “This incident caused an irreversible result of the death of a young victim, and the survivors suffered irreparable pain,” and said, “I am the first offender, and I prayed on ordination to help the victim’s treatment. We considered the point of agreement with him.”

On February 7th last year, Mr. A beats his body with a cross and strangles his body while praying for ordination, saying, “There is an evil spirit in the body,” to E (24), a believer who complained of stress after taking a military vacation from his church. He was charged with letting him die.

Mr. B and others were charged with suppressing Mr. E from getting up.

In this case, the two daughters of the Pastor C’s couple were also involved.The 16-year-old eldest daughter was under the age of 18 and was sent to Family Court in a juvenile protection case, and the 9-year-old daughter was not arrested because she was a criminal minor.

It was investigated that Mr. C’s family committed a crime together while staying at A’s church due to depression and panic disorder.
