On Friday evening, “Let’s Dance” was about making it to the finals. Especially Simon Zachenhuber had to really accelerate again. Because in contrast to the other semi-finalists, the professional boxer has never been rated with full points by the jurors in the past episodes for his dances.
It should be different in the semifinals. The 22-year-old wanted to convince the jury with a quick step on “Who if not we” by Wincent Weiss and a tango on “What Is Love” by Haddaway. But with both dances Simon Zachenhuber could not shine with the judges or the audience in front of the screens.
“The choice of music is really borderline!”
Above all, the tango performance caused criticism on the Internet – but not the dance performance, but the choice of music. Simon Zachenhuber danced the tango to “What Is Love” by Haddaway. An incomprehensible choice for many viewers.
“Who comes up with something like that?” Asked a user on Twitter, for example. Another viewer wrote on Instagram: “The choice of music is really borderline!” Even Daniel Hartwich asked on the show: “So can you dance tango on this song?”
Since the celebrities are not allowed to choose the songs for their dances themselves, but are given them by the editorial staff, another user said: “Whoever makes the song selection, must hate Simon abysmally.”
For his tango to Haddaway, Simon Zachenhuber received 25 points from the jurors. But would the athlete have done better if he could have performed the dance to another song?
In any case, the few points prevented him from reaching the final. Simon Zachenhuber was selected from the show in a row eleven. The finalists have now been determined: Valentina Pahde, Nicolas Puschmann and Rúrik Gíslason will dance for victory and the title “Dancing Star 2021” next week.
