On Saturday, the completely new theme “Superstar for a night” was presented to the spectators of Skal vi danse: all the stars.
Celebs would be miming a superstar song tonight, as well as dancing.
Iselin Guttormsen (35) was among those who chose to fully enter the role of artist Jon Bon Jovi, with very mixed feedback from the jury.
Judge General Trine Dehli Cleve laughed and fumbled over the words before stating “Now we saw it in Let’s Dance too.”
Watch the dance and show later here:
Guttormsen sits down on Monday with a range of mixed emotions and is clearly upset by what she believes was a weird and chaotic broadcast on Saturday.
– I got into the role completely, having chest hair, kissing the one dancer like a groupie and hitting the box at the end of the dance. Although it was ironically distant, we took our task very seriously, says the influencer.
– Don’t fool us
Guttormsen says he reacted very negatively to how it turned out on Saturday night.
The influencer describes a week of confusion at the dance center, which she says came to light during Saturday’s broadcast.
– It seems that the production and the judges disagree on what should happen. The premises are not fixed. Dehli Cleve told us in advance that they would judge on different and completely different criteria, but that’s not what happens in broadcast. It will be total discrimination.
The criticism comes in the wake of this Agnete Saba and Jørgen Nilsen went hard against the judges after the broadcast on Saturday. In advance, the professional dancer had said yes absolutely terrible not to choreograph yourself.
Guttormsen finds it unfair that some attendees are criticized and others praised when the room in which the attendees act is different.
– Don’t give us a task and make fun of us. Everyone offered themselves in different ways and many are praised for stepping out of their comfort zone, while I am being criticized. I felt ridiculed.
Among the things he points out is Judge Trine Dehli Cleve, who at the start of the program says she expects to see participants go “all in” in character, only to appear shocked by Bon Jovi’s interpretation of Guttormsen.
– When people are ridiculed with the message that “We also saw it on Shall we dance”, I think “Of course that’s what you saw, because that’s what you asked for!”
Don’t you dare to speak
Guttormsen says he used the time elapsed since the broadcast to reflect on what happened on Saturday.
He concluded that this is an issue he will not let go by in silence.
– I risk a lot saying this. By exiting this way, I risk being expelled from the whole show. But then I can only do it with my integrity intact.
There’s an expectation in the celebrity industry that you should smile and not create a bad vibe, says Guttormsen.
– Then no one dares to raise their voices, but there is a limit to how much mocking looks and embarrassing silences can be tolerated without speaking.
She continues:
– I also believe that judges must tolerate receiving constructive criticism. It’s too subtle to blame that they only have a few seconds to convey a lot of thoughts.
– It’s not about points
The influencer expects a flood of comments that label her a bad loser.
– It’s very important for me to say that it’s neither about not being able to dance nor getting low points, he says.
– I know I have the least dance experience of all there. If anyone knows the dance technique, they are the judges. If there’s anyone who has a lot to learn and needs constructive feedback, it’s me, she says and she adds.
– If you agreed here, you have to put up with the toasting. And I can stand the roast, but then the rules of the game must apply to everyone.
It was confusion about the concept
Already at the beginning of the week there must have been a lot of confusion about the concept of a show at the dance center, says Guttormsen.
– Some have interpreted it as a concert, others have made a version of a music video, and then you don’t dance with your partner as much.
Attendees were visited by Judge Trine Dehli Cleve at the dance center last week.
Guttormsen says a number of celebrities and professional dancers had questions about what the judges expected on Saturday.
– We were told very clearly that this time the show would be the focus, as well as that they would judge more rigorously.
– How does it feel to receive such a mixed reception from the judges?
– I am completely discouraged when I receive the comments of the judge and especially when they say “What if you had moved all in and had danced more”. I don’t know how I could go all in any more.
Iselin also vented her frustration with her Instagram followers.
After the disappointing weekend, the influencer says there’s no time to lie down and cry for too long. Already on Sunday morning, she and her dance partner were training for the next theme.
– Now Saturday is behind us and we are working even harder than ever before the next broadcast, assures Guttormsen.
TV 2 has been in contact with Judge Trine Dehli Cleve, who does not want to comment on the case.
