Olympique de Lyon Women finished a practically perfect season. One week away from being crowned champions of the 2021/22 Women’s Champions League, after beating FC Barcelona 3-1, this Sunday Christiane Endler’s team lifted their second title of the year: this time from the D1 Féminine.
The French league has played 21 of its 22 games and the Lionesses did not need to play them all to win the 15th title in their history. Today they defeated Paris Saint Germain 1-0, taking eight points away from them (61 vs 53) in the absence of a date to play, and became the champions.
It was Catarina Macario who sentenced the victory early. With a cross shot 3 minutes into the game, the Lyon midfielder scored the partial 1-0, which would ultimately be final. Goalkeeper Charlotte Voll could do little against the shot of the Lyon striker this season and let the goal fit.
