Given the increase in breast cancer diagnoses in Mexico, which amounted to 32,790 in the last year, the “Let’s Beat Cancer” campaign was created, which aims to reduce this number, with the change of four habits in life. everyday.

Ginny Martínez, nutrition educator, commented in an interview with this Weekly, explaining that the “Let’s Beat Cancer” campaign consists of bringing tools to the community to lead a healthier life and prevent the arrival of cancer, especially breast cancer. breast, which is one of those with the highest morbidity and mortality in the country.

“It is a four-step approach, the first would be: choose plant-based foods; the second, exercise regularly; the third, limit alcohol consumption; and the fourth, maintaining a healthy weight, with this, the body is in the best conditions to not have to suffer from breast cancer,” he assured.

In the case of food, the nutrition specialist explained that, currently, meats contain many hormones and antibiotics, since they are necessary to accelerate the growth of animals, in addition to strengthening them and generating more product; However, these hormones can also increase the chances of developing this disease, since both breast and cervical cancer are hormonal.

“The amount of hormones that they -animals- have in their natural state, plus the hormones that are injected into them, all these types of things, in some way, by ingesting animals, we are ingesting this into our system, and that makes a certain amount of estrogen can modify our life, our breasts, our ovaries,” he stated.

He added that it has been proven with survivors of the disease that by changing these four habits, their quality of life has improved and it has helped them fight the disease.

This campaign has been going on for more than 5 years in the United States, specifically in 55 cities, and for the first time in Latin America it is being carried out in Puebla, but it is intended to extend to the entire Republic.
