Since Kate Middleton a la reina Letizia, the most popular royals of the moment turned into illustrations thanks to the talent of a Scottish artist. Her name is Lesley and according to her in her profile on the “Etsy” platform, she has been creating dolls since 2010., when he got hold of a sewing machine and started working on this important project. However, while doing these small jobs, she also drew illustrations, something that changed radically when in 2018 she was given an iPad Pro, which opened up a world of artistic possibilities before her.
“I love to illustrate anything,” says the artist, who a few weeks ago began a challenge that consists of making illustrations and reproducing some of the most iconic looks of the royals of the moment. It is not the first time he has done it, but this time he has taken it as a kind of work. A challenge that begins with Kate Middleton and ends with Princess Sofia of Sweden who, by the way, just a few days ago celebrated her wedding anniversary.
The illustrator has chosen some of the most important looks of each of the royals to share them on her Instagram posts. Drawings with great detail that perfectly reproduce the reality of each of the royals.
The first of them is dedicated to the Duchess of Cambridge, whom he has painted wearing a delicate blue dress from the firm Temperley London in lace with black details that the wife of Prince William wore at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace shortly after announcing her third pregnancy.
The challenge began on June 1, so that so far he has only had time to reproduce 14 royal looks, among which are Magdalena of Sweden, her sister Victoria, the Countess of Wessex, Kitty Spencer, Princess Eugenia of York, Princess Keisha Omilana of Nigeria, Mette Marit from Norway, Olympia of Greece, the Sheikha of Qatar or Princess Anne of the United Kingdom. A list that includes 30 names of royals and in which neither Queen Letizia nor Queen Sofia is missing.
Interestingly, while Felipe VI’s wife is ranked number 22, behind Beatrice Borromeo and before Carlota Casiraghi, Doña Sofía is in position number 15, just after Princess Ana and in front of Pippa Middleton, who is not exactly a royal. This order does not correspond to any specific criteria, but rather to a personal decision of the author.
Even though now Lesley has decided to carry out this challenge, The truth is that in the past there have been several occasions in which he has drawn many of the queens and princesses that are now part of this ranking. In fact, he has drawn Doña Letizia with various looks, such as the controversial 1920s style outfit by Teresa Helbig that she wore in 2017 at the Cerecedo Award ceremony or the Varela pink model for which he bet in 2019 on Hispanic Day. However, it seems that the artist has a special preference for Kate Middleton, as a result of the many times she embodies her outfits in her works.
