Let the Crowd Just the Same Let the People Kill Each Other

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Domestic Minister Tito Karnavian asked the regional head not to allow crowds of residents in his area.

Because, it is prone to transmission of Covid-19 in the crowd.

“Please, colleagues, regional heads and Forkopimda, do not allow crowds who cannot maintain their distance, which can lead to transmission, consistent with existing regional regulations,” said Tito when launching the Masker North Sulawesi Movement in Manado, Friday (4/12 / 2020), quoted from the press release.

According to him, the principle of handling Covid-19 apart from wearing masks, maintaining distance, and diligently washing hands (3M) is to avoid crowds.

Moreover, he said, the current campaign era for regional head elections (pilkada) was so that events that had the potential to create crowds had to be avoided.

The provisions for holding campaigns during this pandemic have also been regulated in the General Election Commission (PKPU) regulations.

“Allowing a crowd to happen is the same as letting people kill each other, but not with weapons, but by transmitting a dangerous virus. Don’t let it, have to be firm, otherwise (this pandemic) will not be over,” said Tito.

Specifically to the North Sulawesi Provincial Government, Tito also asked to continue to enforce the discipline of health protocols, assisted by the regional leadership communication forum (Forkopimda) and socialize it.

In addition, he requested that events to be held in North Sulawesi be carried out according to health protocols, among others, attended by a maximum of 50 people and the rest to follow virtually.

“The important thing is the message arrives, if this protocol is followed, the 60-70 percent risk (of contracting) will decrease,” he said.

The use of masks as an effort to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 must also be emphasized even though the region is not included in the red zone, including in North Sulawesi.

“Even though the number (Covid-19) in North Sulawesi from various indicators is not a red zone, I consider this important. Because North Sulawesi is a national tourist destination, apart from Bali, “said Tito.

As for North Sulawesi, the masked movement was launched with 11 million masks.
