“You have to know him to talk about him. Not loud and not brave. He is such deep water. ” This is what musician Jānis Stībelis says about guitarist Gints Smuko. Gints Smukais has started the concert series “Thaw”, in which he is visiting five Latvian cities: Smiltene, Jekabpils, Riga, Sigulda and Liepaja.
The concert program includes compositions from Gints Smukas’ second album “Thaw” (“Thaw”) and the first debut album “Flourish”, as well as arrangements of compositions from inspiring Latvian and foreign authors, the musician’s representatives informed.
Ģints Smukais reveals the mood of the concert program, which he plans to share in the concerts of the concert series “Thaw”: “At the opening concert of the album on the evening of July 31, peace and quiet reigned on Lake Raiskums
In the next concert series, I will allow myself to introduce visitors to a more expressive guitar finger style, as I learned when traveling to Canada and the United States, learning from world instrumentalists and sharing stories about guitar finger style culture across the ocean. ”
Kaspars Niklasons, the nominee of the annual “Golden Microphone” award for music recordings, who is the producer of the album “Atkusnis” and a friend and colleague of Gints Smukas for 18 years, who will play a calligraphic subtlety of sound for playing each piece, will join some concerts.
The concert of August 15 in Smiltene has already been performed in the concert series. Further concerts are planned:
August 28 in Jekabpils, September 4 in Riga, September 11 in Sigulda and September 12 in Liepaja.
