Let Dávid Vitézy walk in the forest at night and whistle

It is a private matter whether he will sue Dávid Vitézy, he does not know how this information came to the public, he is still considering it, but Vitézy “just wait for his fate, until then walk in the forest at night and whistle,” István Tarlós told ATV- on Monday evening that he is considering suing Dávid Vitézy for his statements about his dismissal.

The candidate for mayor of the LMP claimed in several interviews that Tarlós fired him from the head of the Budapest Transport Center (BKK) in 2014 due to external pressure. According to Tarlós, this is completely untrue.

“When I heard what Dávid said, I thought that anyone who has such memory loss despite his youth should take care of himself, otherwise he is not worthy of this age,” said the 75-year-old former mayor, which includes Tarlós.

He continued by saying that he wanted to refresh Vitézy’s memory. “Since you’ve been saying it, there’s no evidence of that in the universe. I really talked about his release, and I really received such a proposal from Budapest that it is not certain that Dávid should sit in that chair.” He doesn’t want to go into detail about what was wrong with Dávid Vitézy, because “he didn’t come to the show for that”, but there were tensions around Vitézy.

Vitézy also spoke earlier about the fact that, from the very beginning, he was of the position regarding the issue of metro 3 that it was necessary to purchase new metro cars, and not for the Russians to renovate the old trains. According to him, this also played a role in his removal. Tarlós also said that this is not true either.

He talked about how they inherited these 30+ year old subways, and in 2012 there were already outrages about subway fires. His colleague even went to Moscow to inquire about how long the subways, which have already been overused for years, can be used. He was not visited by a Russian delegation, said Tarlós. In contrast to Vitézy, who, according to him, met the Russians in the trolley case. Then, a few weeks later, Vitézy issued a tender for metro procurement. “I’m sorry, it’s not something that can be defended”, said the former mayor, that he consults with a potential customer weeks before the tender.

According to him, in the case of subway 3, they were in a forced situation: either they will renovate the subway or they will shut it down. There were only these two options because the government decision only allowed renovation. According to him, this was also supported by Vitézy, but he also knew that István Tarlós also wanted new assemblies – contrary to what he is now claiming, said Tarlós.

The former mayor thinks that Vitézy wants to “find Gergely Kárácsony” with this matter. But “Dávid has actually done this to the government, to me, to the public procurement final committee, to the BKV directorate and through that to himself. I understand that he is campaigning, I am not angry with Dávid,” said the former mayor.

The host of Egyenes beszéd, Egon Rónai, said goodbye to Dávid Vitézy in the studio on Friday, who would certainly respond to Tarlós’ words, to which Tarlós replied that if this happens, he will want to respond to Vitézy again. However, he advises the LMP mayoral candidate to “be restrained if he doesn’t want to burn himself to death in this matter.”

Update: Dávid Vitézy reacted to István Tarlós’s TV appearance on Facebook, you can read his post here. “I will gladly go for a walk in the forest whistling, as Mr. Tarlós advises, but I will continue to stand by my above statements, no matter how many times the former or current mayor threatens me,” he writes.
