Bos Amazon, Jeff Bezos, had his first job at a McDonald’s fast food restaurant. Apparently, there is a valuable lesson he got after working on burgers.
At the age of 16, Bezos landed his first summer job. He was assigned to make burgers at McDonald’s in 1980.
While at McDonald’s, Bezos made his first direct contact with retail and spent the summer studying enterprise automation improvements. He studied the sounds and signals when to egg him, flipped his burger, and pulled his hash browns out of the hot fryer.
The experience gave Bezos early insights into customer service, which he later admitted was very difficult. Because of this, he emphasized that customer service is a top priority at Amazon Yahoo! News.
According to Cody Teets, author of ‘Golden Opportunity: Remarkable Careers That Begin at McDonald’s’, Bezos says that ‘the most challenging thing is keeping things moving at the right pace in a rush’. He also took this from his experience working at McDonald’s.

Bezos isn’t the only successful entrepreneur to have learned a valuable lesson from working at a fast food chain. Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, started as a Pizza Hut dishwasher and worked his way up to being a waitress in high school.
“I basically learned everything I needed to know about customer service,” Ohanian told The New York Times.
