The number of COVID-19 patients has finally fallen below 5,000 in hospitals in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This Wednesday, December 9, the results are encouraging but the hospital situation remains tense.
The coronavirus epidemic seems to be receding for the moment in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The incidence and positivity rates of the tests have been declining gradually since mid-November and are now tending to stabilize. In hospitals in the region, there are encouraging signs this Wednesday, December 9: the number of people hospitalized as a result of the coronavirus has finally fallen below the 5,000 mark.
A mixed record, however, because if the figures are falling, they remain far too high. Hospitals in the region like those in the Rhône fear a new outbreak of the epidemic – and therefore mass hospitalizations – after the end of the year celebrations.
The results in the hospitals of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region this morning of Wednesday, December 9:
- 243 new hospitalizations in 24 hours
- 4,919 people currently hospitalized (-179 in 24 hours)
- 38 new intensive care admissions in 24 hours
- 525 people in intensive care units (-25 in 24 hours)
- 72 new deaths in 24 hours
- 5,752 deaths since the start of the epidemic
The results in the Rhône hospitals this morning of Wednesday, December 9:
- 53 new hospitalizations in 24 hours
- 1,264 people currently hospitalized (-69 in 24 hours)
- 10 new intensive care admissions in 24 hours
- 161 people in intensive care units (-13 in 24 hours)
- 19 new deaths (Isère is the most bereaved department this Wednesday with 22 new deaths)
- 1,619 deaths since the start of the epidemic
