According to PAHO figures, this percentage corresponds to 14,287,370 people. Additionally, the numbers handled by PAHO indicate that 22,157,232 people applied the first dose and 14,966,671 the second. That gives a total of 37,860,994 applied doses.
Last January, the dictator Nicolás Maduro affirmed that 96% of people over 18 years of age had the vaccine; but he did not specify what dose he was referring to. Then, in February, Maduro declared that Venezuela had surpassed the immunization goal, reported Chronicle One.
“One year after the vaccination process, today we have reached 102.6% vaccination, in the first and second complete doses,” he said on February 25.
This Thursday, the dictator asserted that the country has enough vaccines to immunize the entire population against COVID-19 during 2022 and 2023, but PAHO statistics reveal that less than 50% of Venezuelans have not been vaccinated.
