A high school student from Ulis (Essonne) was arrested and taken into custody on Tuesday. One of his teachers had just filed a complaint against him after being the subject of death threats on Snapchat. The teenager confessed, evoking “a joke” for his comrades.
Just a year after the professor’s death Samuel Paty, murdered by a terrorist a few steps from his college in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines), the act of this teenager enrolled in the high school of the Essouriau aux Ulis, was taken seriously by law enforcement.
One of his teachers went to the police station on Tuesday morning shortly before 10 a.m. to file a complaint for death threats. Two videos had been posted on the Snapchat social network where we saw him in the classroom, during a class. “That the same thing happens to him as to Samuel Paty”, was written on these videos indicates a source close to the investigation. Threats also condoning terrorism.
Arrested at the airport while going on vacation
Police quickly identified the author of these publications. He was one of the teacher’s students. “He was arrested around 7 pm at Orly airport while he was with his mother, about to take a flight to Morocco for vacation”, explains this same source. Placed in custody, the teenager admitted that he was indeed the author of these videos but claimed that the goal was only “To make his comrades laugh”.
The high school student was penalized on Wednesday, with the obligation to attend a training course to raise awareness of digital dangers and social networks.
