Cameron Mackintosh’s LES MISÉRABLES THE ARENA SPECTACULAR, with our foremost international musical star Peter Jöback in the lead role as Jean Valjean, is coming to Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Avicii Arena in Stockholm and Malmö Arena in Malmö. Peter Jöback is currently impressing as Jean Valjean at The Sondheim Theater in London and in 2025 he will take on the Swedish audience where he will lead an ensemble and orchestra of over 65 people. The performances are part of an extensive world tour and there will be a total of 15 exclusive shows in Sweden during 2025.
Victor Hugo’s classic tale is a poignant tale of shattered dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption – a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Featuring grand and iconic songs such as “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Bring Him Home,” and “One Day More,” this epic and inspiring story emerges as one of the world’s most beloved musicals.
Boublil and Schönberg’s LES MISÉRABLES is the longest-running musical in the world and has been performed in 53 countries and 439 cities worldwide. The world tour begins as the musical enters its 40th year in London’s West End.
LES MISÉRABLES THE ARENA MUSICAL SPECTACULAR will expand on the hugely successful Les Misérables The Staged Concert, which played over 200 record-breaking performances in the West End. The musical will feature an extraordinary new design specially created for venues and the spectacular production will feature a British ensemble of over 110 actors, musicians and staff.
Producent Cameron Mackintosh says:
“The spectacular arena world tour of the Les Misérables concert has been a dream of mine for many years. With Les Mis’ 40th phenomenal year starting this October in London, there couldn’t be a better time for it to happen. A dream concert deserves a dream cast and I couldn’t be more thrilled to announce that my old friend and international music star Peter Jöback, now back in London’s West End making his brilliant Les Misérables debut as Jean Valjean at the Sondheim Theatre, will be bringing his great performance home to Sweden this autumn, leading a terrific cast and orchestra of over 65.
With the Les Misérables movie now being re-released in cinemas across the world in its completely remixed digital glory, sounding and looking better than ever, and with the London and North American productions still regularly breaking attendance records, Les Misérables is a true phenomenon – The People’s Musical – and the only musical ever to be simultaneously a hit on stage, screen and in concert arenas. Boublil and Schönberg, Herbert Kretzmer and I owe our inspiration to the genius of Victor Hugo’s masterpiece.”
Thomas Johansson Chairman International Music Live Nation Sweden says:
”We are incredibly happy to announce that Les Misérables is coming to Sweden with several performances in Gothenburg, Stockholm and Malmö. We did the first Les Misérables performance at Cirkus in Stockholm in 1991, and since then Les Misérables has not been in Sweden except at the Wermland Opera in 2016/2017. It feels fantastic to bring Les Misérables here in an arena version with our favorite Peter Jöback in the role of Jean Valjean. Expect a grand experience and a spectacular production. This is a unique chance to see one of the world’s best musicals live. Do not miss!”
