ShowbizOne of the most famous and iconic musicals ever will soon be coming to Flanders. ‘Les Misérables’ is a fixed value in the musical repertoire and this is also reflected in the ticket sales of the Flemish/Dutch co-production. More than 250,000 tickets have already been sold. That was just announced by Studio 100.
The cast of ‘Les Misérables’ received a Double Diamond Ticket Award from the producers for more than 250,000 tickets for their tour through Flanders & the Netherlands. This was celebrated in the Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam with this unique award. The musical – directed by Cameron Mackintosh (76) – is currently running at our northern neighbours, but this autumn you will also be able to admire it on Flemish stages.

The cast consists of a varied mix of Dutch and Flemish musical stars. In the Flemish version, for example, Nordin De Moor (38) plays inspector Javert and we see Ianthe Tavernier (34) as Eponine, who shines with the captivating solo number ‘On My Own’. Jonas Van Geel (38) and Goele De Raedt (44) together form the Thénardiers, an innkeeper couple with a questionable reputation.
The strongholds from Dutch production will also remain on board. For example, Milan van Waardenburg leads the main cast as Jean Valjean and we see Channah Hewitt back as Fantine who made quite an impression earlier at the press screening with her captivating version of ‘My Dream’. Sem Gerritsma as Cosette, Michael Muyderman as her beloved Marius and Mark Roy Luykx as student leader Enjolras will also be there.

With Jonas Van Geel, Ianthe Tavernier, Nordin De Moor and Goele De Raedt, we have in any case succeeded in putting together a strong Flemish cast that can bring this masterpiece back to life.”
