The Les Beaux Jours project, the new unique space whose objective is to participate in a new impetus in Thionville, for social, economic, cultural and ecological impacts, has been delayed. The reason ? Compliance work on the premises is necessary.
Initiated by the Thionville cultural association Des Mots & Débats, the Les Beaux Jours concept is to offer, in a place in the city center of Thionville, a bar where you can sit down, like at home, with small seasonal catering, many cultural activities but also a point of sale of local products as well as concierge services (laundry, childcare, ordering market garden baskets, etc.). A place which would at the same time offer new professional opportunities for people who are far from employment.
To carry out the progress of the project and the animation of this place throughout the year, was created in the wake of Le Comptoir de Thionville, a non-profit association. Elisabeth Parachini chairs it. The Valo’ group, via La Conciergerie Solidaire de Lorraine, merchants such as Les Domaines Qui Montent, l’Épicerie Fine-S or Les Bocaux de Camille, start-ups such as Aurel & Axel as well as volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, quickly joined the team.
Opening postponed to the end of 2023
Ideally, the opening of this new unique space should have taken place last March. Except that the ideal is hermetic to reality and even more so to the requirements of the safety commission. The building, on which the promoters of the project had set their sights, namely that of the former premises of the Atav, at 34 rue de la Tour, will indeed have to be rehabilitated to correspond to current standards, in particular with regard to the access for people with disabilities or even fire requirements.
“To make this place friendly and warm as much as we wanted at the start, we must therefore do more work than planned, so much so that the opening is postponed to the end of 2023”, confirms Élisabeth Parachini, who does not Wasn’t really expecting this extension. “We are going to be accompanied by an architect to help us make all the authorization requests to this and to choose the companies that will intervene within this place”.
Estimated total cost of the work: €100,000. We will therefore have to go back on the hunt for funding, whether through corporate sponsorship, or public, local, regional or even European subsidies. “But if other complementary financing ideas are possible, they are welcome…”, further suggests Élisabeth Parachini. Who, in the end, despite all these adventures, says she is “confident for the future”. After the rain, the beautiful days will inevitably come.
