The Sovremennik Theater said goodbye to Valentin Gaft – colleagues and admirers of talent came to pay him their last debt. From the stage, many read Gaft’s poems, in addition to the famous epigrams, he also wrote beautiful lyrics. Those who came brought condolences to the artist’s widow Olga Ostroumova – Alexander Rosenbaum, Grigory Leps, Elena Yakovleva, Liya Akhedzhakova and many, many others said warm words to her. Speaking from the stage, Akhedzhakova called Gaft an ambiguous person “One could expect both a slap in the face and incredible tenderness from him.” At the end of the performance, the actress burst into tears.
