Quinté – Léopold d’Orsetti Prize: Enola Gay doubles the stake on the Clairefontaine steeplechase
The 3,900 meters of the Léopold d’Orsetti prize at the Clairefontaine racecourse for the first quinté of this week, notably on the ENOLA GAY track (photo Scoopdyga), BOUWELL and ELISA DES OBEAUX which had already shone on this course by taking over first, second and fourth place respectively in the Pot d’Or prize on May 30. While he remained in his eighth place in the Great Spring Hurdles Race on the Auteuil brooms and a failure in Compiègne for his return on the steeplechase, the 5 year old FOU DU BRESIL shows a completely different face this Monday, and that under a heavy load of 72 kg, coming very well to finish in full track to the point of finally failing only a short length of the winner. If COASTALMAJIC could not complete its course, superb performance thus for the training of Yannick Fouin who places his two other residents in the first two places. Second in the Pot d’Or prize and also this year fourth in the Tofano prize and third in the Jean-Claude Evain prize on the Auteuil track, BOUNWELL will still have to wait to reconnect with a successful steeplechase fleeing from January 2018 but Régis Schmidlin’s partner still runs first, keeping third place. Discarded from the competition from December 2018 to last May, SAINT POURSAIN who had just returned to victory on the side of Strasbourg confirms his rapid return to form by grabbing fourth place ahead of BOWLER HAT in this Léopold d’Orsetti prize where WAMBA unfortunately crashed.
