Leonardo Pieraccioni Opens Up About Political Correctness and New Film “It seems a lot like Paris”

Political correctness, a plague of the current times? There are also some “unsuspected” people who think exactly like this. Why this swerve? “The public has become disaffected. The window to see them has shortened, after three months you have them comfortable at home, comedy films are the ones that suffer the most, because it is thought that superheroes or floods perform better on the big screen. But even a laugh alone or among 500 people is something else”, replies Pieraccioni.

A precise question follows: behind the change of direction is the fact that, today, comedy must necessarily take political correctness into account? “It’s become a folklore thing. The editor thought about cutting the scene where a sister was punched. I explained to him that the slap unites them, and she laughs about it”, replies Pieraccioni, making it clear in a few words how he thinks.

The upcoming film is a story about regrets, about everything that a family has never managed to communicate to each other. So, they ask him if there is anything autobiographical: how did you go to her house? “Even when I stopped studying, very early, my parents saw me as a good boy. I worked as a warehouse worker for five years, then I worked in a carpentry shop. It was a way to make me understand that the life of a non-graduate was difficult. In between my father had found me a job as an usher in a bank. For those who came from a humble family, a permanent job was the best. I told him that I had a hard time imagining myself in an usher’s uniform and he understood me”, concludes Leonardo Pieraccioni frankly.
