San Antonio announced last Friday the hiring of Leonardo Égüez as their new coach, replacing Thiago Leitao, but the official presentation took place this Monday and was led by club president Juan Tardío.
“We are sure that we have not made a mistake to be able to hire this new coach, who has the same feelings as us, to continue making history, to continue making the club grow,” said the head of the club from the Cochabamba tropics.
For his part, Égüez, who had been fulfilling the position of technical assistant at Universitario de Vinto, He explained the reasons why he accepted San Antonio’s proposal.
“Now I accept San Antonio because I see the team there is, I see the hunger and the conditions there are. I’m honest with you, I feel like another Cochabambino, I feel at home, I am very happy and grateful to the people of Cochabamba, to the city, we are very comfortable, I am with my family here,” said the DT.
In addition to the sports theme, The coach made it clear that family was key to make the decision to take over the team that was champion of the Apertura tournament.
“I am from Santa Cruz and my family is here (in Cochabamba), I am settled here, so moving in the middle of the year was going to be a bit complex and they are decisions that one makes on the fly. When I sat down with the president and he conveyed his wish to me, It seemed like the right place, We have the same objectives and it is as if we had talked about it for a year, but we are in the same synchronization and we can do great things.” Egüez added.
